Marketing

Marketing your childcare provision is like marketing any other business. For maximum exposure, try using a variety of marketing techniques. Here are just some of our suggestions:

Ethos

This carefully about what your ethos is and include it in a mission statement. Vision and values change over time so take time to re-evaluate your company ethos from time to time. What are the fundamental values of your setting, why are you here and what do you want to achieve? Make sure all of your staff are familiar with the company ethos and advocate for it’s values.

Unique selling point

What makes your childcare provision stand out from the crowd? What can you offer prospective parents that other businesses may not be able to?

Think about what you would look for if you were a parent looking for quality childcare in your area. What do you have within your childcare setting that stands out for parents who are coming to look around?

Tools for successfully marketing your childcare provision

  • A well presented website with bright and clear photographs of your setting. Include photos of management and staff, pricing and opening hours. Regularly ensure your website is up to date.
  • Social media: An active Facebook / Instagram account with pictures of happy children doing fun activities goes a long way. Just ensure it is risk assessed and you have a social media policy in place.
  • Advertising using both free and paid adverts. Local social media pages offer a free platform for advertising. You may also choose to place paid adverts in local newspapers and shops. Consider asking your local primary school if they have a notice board you can advertise your business.

Get feedback from parents who join your setting & also those that choose not to - why was it that they chose someone else? Location & price are usually deciding factors with most families but some families will travel for good quality.
