Educational Psychology

Educational Psychologists can offer consultation, assessment, advice, support and training to settings, schools and colleges where there is a concern about the development, learning or social, emotional and mental health needs of children and young people (0 to 25 years).

The Educational Psychology Service is team of Educational Psychologists (EPs), Trainee Educational Psychologists and Assistant Educational Psychologists with qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience in the fields of psychology, education and special educational needs.

They support the most complex and vulnerable groups of children and young people in settings, schools and colleges. In addition to work around individual children and young people, they also deliver strategic support to schools and other education settings across North Yorkshire.

All EPs are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), engage in a programme of CPD to ensure their knowledge and skills are up to date and have regular supervision with their line manager. Any work that is purchased by schools will need to fit within the remit of the work as defined by the professional guidelines.

In addition to traded work, EPs also contribute advice for every child or young person undergoing an assessment for an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
