Recruiting the right people with the right skills at the right time is essential to maximising service delivery and performance.
Prior to commencing a recruitment campaign it is important that you are personally prepared and plan your campaign to ensure a successful, safe and robust outcome.
In compliance with the mandatory requirement under the School Staffing (England) Regulations, at least one person on the panel for the appointment of any member of school staff must be trained in safer recruitment approved by the Secretary of State, and this training is available on: https://nyes.info/.
NYC Safer Recruitment and Selection e learning is recommended for managers, available on the learning zone. These training packages will enable managers to safeguard our service users, staff and communities which is particularly important for those working with children or vulnerable adults.
Schools engaging agency workers, including Supply Teachers should follow the guidance relating to the Agency Workers Regulations to ensure they are compliant with legal requirements. We recommend the Matrix system as an effective process for obtaining agency workers, to achieve potential savings and an efficient centrally organised process to support schools (for example, electronic management of timesheets). If your school would like specific advice and guidance regarding utilising agencies to secure teaching supply staff including advice about how to avoid temp to perm fees please contact the Resourcing Solutions Team.
