Selective grammar schools in the authority admit children based on their performance in a series of tests, designed to identify academic potential.
There are three selective grammar schools in North Yorkshire: Ripon Grammar School, Ermysted's Grammar School (boys only) in Skipton and Skipton Girls' High School (Academy Status). Each school has its own website and prospectus for more information.
North Yorkshire Council's website provides all of the information required for admission to selective schools. It provides details on the selective scheme in North Yorkshire and will help parents to apply for a place at the school they would prefer their child to attend. For more information please click here.
