Regular Asymptomatic Testing of staff

Staff in primary schools, school-based nurseries and maintained nurseries wishing to partake in the regular lateral flow tests will be able to start from the 25th January onwards. Schools who have not received their initial delivery by the end of the 25th January should contact the DfE helpline (details below). Delivery of test materials for nursery schools may be slightly later than for primary schools.

Schools and maintained nurseries should call the DfE’s coronavirus helpline 0800 046 8687 (Mon-Fri 8am-6pm; Sat-Sun 10am-6pm) for support with specific questions.
As with all other positive cases, we ask that you inform the LA of any new positive cases identified by lateral flow testing by emailing education.COVID19@northyorks.gov.uk or telephone 01609 780 780.

In order to support primary schools with the implementation of staff testing, the LA will be providing a variety of drop-in Q&A sessions over the next week. These will be attended by officers from a range of services to support schools with any questions they may have about the implementation of staff testing in primary school. Anyone who has any questions that they would like ask regarding lateral flow testing can join the meeting at any point throughout the hour and officers will be there to answer their questions.

A risk assessment document has also been produced which can be found under the Health and Safety section on the Covid-19 page here.

Following our round of drop-ins for school leaders, we have now produced an FAQ document to capture key questions. These can be found here

Testing kits for pupils

Primary schools, school-based nurseries and maintained nursery schools will continue to be able to access small sets of 10 test kits to use on occasions when a test is needed for a pupil/parent who is unable to access a test via the usual channels at short notice.

Sets of 10 kits  - making an order for additional Coronavirus test kits - An online portal is now live for schools and further education (FE) providers to order additional coronavirus (COVID-19) test kits if they have run out, or are running out, of their initial 10 kits supplied for use in line with DfE guidance.
