Pupil Premium

Pupil premium (introduced in 2011) is additional funding received by schools for raising the attainment and educational achievement of a Child in Care.  Funding is allocated by the Virtual School Head, to the establishment where the pupil is on roll at the start of each term. Please note- different authorities will distribute variable amounts.

The school's Designated Teacher for CiC should be aware of the Pupil Premium budget that the school receives and be able to demonstrate how effectively it has been utilized for each child. A summary, without the ability to identify individuals, will be visible on the school's website.

A school can decide how the Pupil Premium is spent. However, good practice would be to consult with carers, social workers, colleagues from the Virtual School and, most significantly, the individual child, to ensure it is used to support the child's education.  This will be discussed and recorded within the PEP meeting.
