Clerk to Governors Handbook

Welcome to the most up to date edition of the Clerks Handbook. The role of the Clerk to Governors has changed significantly over the last few years and this is reflected in the DFE (formerly DCSF) National Job Description and The National Training Programme, both of which recognise the important role of clerks in the work of the governing body.

The Handbook has been revised and updated to make it a more useful practical tool for clerks and together with the DFE Guide to the Law CD it should provide the information that you need to fulfil your role and deal with most of the issues that may arise during your work. Many of the documents and the procedural guidance that you will need are included as appendices to this handbook and they are also available in a variety of formats as detailed here under and are available from Strategic Support Services.
