Sexual Health

Sexual Health is a personal matter, but the more facts Young People know about it the better. Schools have an important role in providing Young People with the right information about how to look after themselves, how to stay safe, making the right choices and how to access services for more specialist information and support.

Local Services for Children and Young People in North Yorkshire

Information and support on Young People’s sexual health can be sought from the 5-19 Healthy Child Service Team and the Prevention Service Team in your area. NHS Choices also provides helpful resources and further information on a range of sexual health topics.

Sometimes it is important for Young People to speak to someone individually and YorSexualHealth, the North Yorkshire wide service, provides confidential, free and friendly services that are available to everyone. A central booking and information line is available by calling: 01904 721111. More detailed information about sexual health and contraceptive services can be found on the YorSexualHealth website.

Compass REACH, a specialist service which is part of the Healthy Child Service, can also work with Young People aged 9-19 (and up to 25 for those with special educational needs or disabilities) who have been screened as having moderate or high levels of need with regard to substance misuse/alcohol and/or sexual health. For more information about the service and how to refer a Young Person for support, visit the Compass REACH  information page.
