Safeguarding Responsibilities

The setting must be committed to ensuring that children have a safe, positive environment where they can learn and develop. It is the duty of the committee to ensure that all staff and volunteers are also committed to children's well-being and safety; are clear about their responsibilities to safeguard and promote children's welfare; know the procedures for highlighting any concerns; and have appropriate guidance and training to undertake their roles.

The Child Protection and Safeguarding - Early Years page provides further information on safeguarding in early years settings.

The North Yorkshire Local Safeguarding Children's Board website contains information about training courses, procedures and up to date news. As a basic proviso all committee members should have undertaken the e learning basic awareness and child protection course. You can register for this course via the safeguarding board website link above."
