Welcome to the Mentors Register provided by the Business Management and Networking in Schools Service. A number of experienced school colleagues have volunteered to provide support and mentoring to other school colleagues through the sharing of their knowledge and skills.
Staff undertaking the business management and administration tasks in schools often work in professional isolation and have limited scope to seek the opinion of others. The Mentors Register aims to bridge that gap in providing opportunities for induction support, work shadowing and peer to peer support.
On the Mentors Register (listed below) you will find details of the school colleagues, grouped by geographical area, who are willing to provide support and mentoring, the types of work they are willing to support and the level of their charges. If you would like to access support please make direct contact with the mentor who you feel is best able to meet your needs.
A standard charging approach for support has been adopted by the majority of the mentors (this is indicated on the individual mentor's details contained within the Register). The standard charges are as follows:
- Initial meeting charge £50.00
- Hourly support charge, thereafter* £20.00 per hour
- *schools participating in the mentoring arrangement will need to mutually agree whether the charge will be applied to all support or just on-site support
- **mileage, travel time and supply costs, where applicable, may be an additional charge - to be agreed locally at the commencement of the mentoring arrangement.
If you are not already included on the Mentors Register, and feel that you would like to be able to share your skills, knowledge and experience with others please complete the Mentors Register details form (attached below) and submit your information using the contact e-mail address.
In order for everyone to gain the most benefit from the mentoring relationship it is important that support is provided in a structured and professional way. Some guidance has been developed to assist with this (please find detailed below).
