The pay arrangements at North Yorkshire County Council are based on national and local collective agreements. The Authority supports the principle of equality of opportunity in employment and is committed to the fundamental principle that procedures to determine the pay and conditions of employment for all employees do not discriminate unlawfully and are free from bias.
The Pay section covers topics such as the employment contract, salary pay bands, the grading and re-grading of jobs, JNC scales, pay protection, the local collective agreement, national terms and conditions, pay and reward booklet, market supplements as well as other incentives with more detailed pages on increments and job evaluation.
There are many different types of leave available including adoption, annual, bad weather/emergency, dependants, emergency, special and extended, fertility treatment, flexi-leave, gender reassignment, maternity, maternity support, medical appointments, parental, paternity, public service, and study leave.

Information on the terms and conditions of employment for staff working at North Yorkshire County Council is addressed by the national collective agreements that cover the various types of workers in local government service. These are referred to as 'books', which are updated periodically, and are designated by colour. In addition, there have been locally negotiated and agreed changes to the national 'books' which are set out in the Collective Agreement.
